Exploring Futures of Graffiti & Post-Hip Hop Practices

This workshop investigates how graffiti and hip hop are transforming within contemporary technological and infrastructural realities. Moving beyond style and nostalgia, it approaches tagging, MCing, and production as adaptive communication systems that historically embedded identity into mobility networks, circulation channels, and urban space.
We trace the multidisciplinary roots of early hip hop, the impact of futurist and sci-fi thought, and the evolution of tools from walls and trains to drones, surveillance environments, 3D-printed devices, and experimental sonic practices. Participants gain a structural framework for developing post–hip hop interventions that are embodied, technologically aware or resistant, while remaining critically engaged with present-day infrastructures.
